Strings

Strings

I just stumbled upon this film whilst looking at the comments board on MirrorMask's IMDb.com page. It looks pretty damn awesome. Check out the trailer on the Strings homepage.

Also, anyone seen Joss Whedon's cancelled series "Firefly" on DVD? Apparently it's an action/Western/sci-fi series. I'm watching the pilot right now, and it's pretty good so far. The upcoming Serenity bases itself on the series and will be coming out in September. I'll wait until a couple of episodes in to start getting excited about this one.

Watching:
  • "Firefly"
  • Dreams
  • Return of the Living Dead
  • Dawn of the Dead

    Reading:
  • Desolation Jones, by Warren Ellis & JH Williams III
  • The Elegant Universe

    Listening to:
  • Comicology podcast (He's a rambler, but I'm a sucker for the ol' comics talk.)

    Podcasting

    Podcasting

Those of you that use iTunes should update to 4.9. One of the new features in 4.9 is an integrated Podcasting directory. Many of the featured podcasts are shows on LA's public radio station for whom my love knows no bounds, KCRW. Among my subscribed podcasts are KCRW's Bookworm (a show about issues affecting modern authors), KCRW's Film Reviews/Martini Shot (four minute segments that review films [obviously] or comment on the film industry respectively), KCRW's The Treatment (another movie show where former New York Times reviewer, Elvis Mitchell, interviews filmmakers in half-hour segments), and a couple of KCRW's political shows (To the Point and Left, Right & Center). I'd also recommend WNYC's (New York City's public radio station) Leonard Lopate Show.

Check it out. Get back to me. What podcasts are worth listening to?

Watching: (now wholly linked by request)
  • Atomic Cafe

    Reading:
  • The Elegant Universe
  • Captain America (v5)

    Listening to:
  • My KCRW podcasts (You've got to at least check out KCRW's Martini Shot. It's goddamn, freaking hilarious. I'm, like, for serious here. I don't want you to report back until you've listened to it.)

They're coming to get you, Rover...

They're coming to get you, Rover...

    "Boffins create zombie dogs".

Appropriately Pittsburgh is George A. Romero's favorite city. A "boffin" is British slang for a scientist (usually one engaged in research), by the way.

As a precaution the research facility has employed Milla Jovovich to kick the dogs in the face should they become enraged toward the living.

    Watching:
  • Land of the Dead (Ending? What ending?)
  • The Emperor's New Groove
  • The Illuminati
  • Immortel (ad vitam)

    Reading:
  • The Elegant Universe
