I honestly just don't know what to say

I honestly just don't know what to say

I left for work Thursday morning at 5AM, and I just got back an hour ago: 3:30AM, Saturday morning. There is something so wrong with that.

Well, tomorrow I've got a meeting with my co-production coordinator--Clint got me a partner!--for the Western trailer. I'm actually pretty excited about it.

After that I move in...sometime. I'm not sure I mentioned this before, but I was supposed to put down my first payments and drop off some stuff at the new apartment on Wednesday. My landlord's worker was supposed to give me a call an hour in advance of his getting to the apartment so I would have time to drive there to meet him. He also first said he'd be there at 4PM. While I was on the phone with my parents at 7PM, my phone beeped with a message from my landlord saying that he left at 6:30 for the apartment and would be there in ten minutes. I called him back immediately after I got his message, which was after I got off the phone with my parents. That was around 7:45PM. I got his voice mail saying he wouldn't be answering his phone or checking his messages until Saturday, September 18. What the fuck is that about, I ask you?

I also need to buy furniture for my apartment. After that, I need to get drunk with a co-worker. Unfortunately I tossed her number on accident when I was clearing my pockets after work. Guess I'll have to make some phone calls tomorrow to get it again.

So I'm not sure when I'll post next. I won't have Internet right away at the new place, but I'll try to make it to an Internet cafe sometime soon if I can't get a hook up going right away. Have a good weekend, everybody, and go see Sky Captain.

Okay. It's almost 5AM, so I've got to get some sleep before tomorrow. I'm out.

Clerks X

Clerks X

Man, any Kevin Smith fans have got to pick up the Clerks Tenth Anniverssary Edition DVD. It's got three discs, and it's absolutely packed with special features. Good stu...What?...37?

[UPDATE: For whatever reason--I'm sure it has to do with a quality viewing of Jay and Silent Bob and fond memories of An Evening with Kevin Smith--I've been really getting into Smith's work as of late. I picked up the Chasing Amy DVD the other day and now, obviously, Clerks. X, and I must say I'm enjoying the hell out of them. Now I'm just wondering how it took me so long to start buying his stuff. You can't see it, but I'm kicking myself right now. A feat of acrobatics that surprises even myself.]

Miracle Mile, here I come

Miracle Mile, here I come

Once again, I had a rough day what with the extensive phone calling and whatnot, but I think I actually have an apartment locked down along with most of Clint's crew. I need to talk to the guy who might be craft service, but I believe that's it.

Other than that, I went out with a guy with whom I went to high school and had a few brews near his place in Long Beach. The guy's cool as shit, but I really wish he lived a little closer to me. Meh. It's still someone I can go out for drinks with on the weekends. If I may: booyah.

I'm sure my life will be much less interesting in a week and a half. I can't wait.

Has the world gone MAD?? Or is it just me?

Has the world gone MAD?? Or is it just me?

[DISCLAIMER: You don't have to read the first paragraph. It's just me bitching. Read past it to learn what I think about a new comic store! Sky Captain promotional material! Alan Moore's Tom Strong! And more!]

I am going insane. I'm dealing with finding an apartment, finding the last few people for Clint's project (sound mixer, boom operator, and more!), and having to worry about going back to work on Thursday and working on Clint's project all of next week. While I found the place I'm probably going to settle on today--a bachelor between Mid-Wilshire and Downtown (not that means anything to any of you)--I've still got the moral dilemma of taking off of (paid) work to help someone else who's basically exploiting something I promised long ago not having any idea what my life would be like when they actually started shooting. He's also exploiting the fact that he got me said job to make me do much more than I should be and much more than I'm even qualified to do. My problem with saying something is that 1) he is a friend despite sometimes being a jerk about my responsibilities (the kind of situation where it's hard to determine if he's being hard on me because he wants me to learn or because he's exploiting me for my work ethic), 2) it would be much more fun to work on his project rather than "McBride", 3) it's only a four day shoot. On the other hand, I'm sure I'm constantly going to be pissed off at what he's going to make me do or what he'll try to blame me for whether or not it's actually my fault. On the other, other hand, it's good, new experience but at the expense of my paying job.

I just want to yell. Sorry to bring this stuff on you guys.

On a lighter note, I went to a new comic shop the other day and got a Sky Captain one-sheet and a mini-Shaun of the Dead poster for free with my purchase of volumes one & two of Grant Morrison's The Invisibles. I also got a fun conversation about Sky Captain's gorgeous production design and the length of time it took to make a comedy with zombies rather than a zombie movie with funny parts.

Speaking of Sky Captain, it seems Best Buy is giving away a promotional Sky Captain DVD in stores for free--even sans purchase as I understand it. It's actually pretty cool. It's got the teaser, the trailer, behind-the-scenes, and a Sky Captain game. It's going well with my reading of Tom Strong, which also incorporates a lot of 1930's-40's sci-fi stuff into it. It's actually quite kick ass, for those of you who might be wondering. It's a kind of post-modern/nostalgic look at early comic heroes, super- or otherwise. I'd recommend checking it out.
