Incidentally...

Incidentally...

I just joined Myspace.com the other day because I thought I needed another friend network that I won't use (See: Friendster). If you're on that network, gimme a holler.

I also thought of a humorous anecdote that happened the other day. I was at Steak 'n Shake with the fellas back home, and one was talking about moving to Japan in the near future. He'd teach English to Japanese kids to pay the bills. I mentioned to him that I'd like to move to Scotland and just live there for a year or two. He sat quietly for a moment and in a tender voice said, "Drew, you can't teach English there." He seems to have missed the point, but--bless his kitten heart--he was deeply concerned about my apparently poor fore-planning for skipping the country.

So that's my tentative plan over the next few years. I'm periodically just going to pick up and move increasingly farther away from everyone I know. Eventually I hope to be living on the moon.

Back in filthy, stinking LA

Back in filthy, stinking LA

Well, I'm back home in Los Angeles again. Whoo. Whoo...

When I was hanging out waiting for my luggage to come off the conveyor belt--a healthy 45 minute wait, I might add--a gentleman approached me. He complimented my hairstyle (what hairstyle, I ask?) and thrust a Way to Transcendence manual at me. First of all, complimenting me isn't going to make me change religions in most cases. Second of all, it would've been a better idea if he'd given me the manual before I was in LAX and annoyed with my tardy luggage. For future reference: if you're going to try and convert me, do it when it seems like I'm not preoccupied. I also don't think LAX's environment is conducive to attaining enlightenment.

On a different note, I've got some fun Internet stuff I found via reference and high-praise from my friend Zach. First is a short-film entitled A Ninja Pays Half My Rent, which you can watch here. It's a film that argues that ninjas--despite being trained assassins--make fine roommates. Another site with more content is called Mega 64. Its goal is to bring videogames into reality, Jackass-style. From the ones I've watched, I think the Metal Gear Solid one is my favorite. Solid Snake just has a one-track mind. Then again, there's a great deal to be said for the Shenmue episode. "Do you know where I can find some sailors around here?"
