Tea: Source of Wonder, Fountain of Life

Tea: Source of Wonder, Fountain of Life

This is a little off-beat, but tea saved my sanity last night during a 3 am nic-fit. Here is a poem about the fairest of goddesses:

* * *

Most pass'd of nectars, you shock me
with your ethereal grace and gossamer wit.
You alone among beverages know
How to sooth the savage beast.
Nature sighs when She lends
her potpourri. For that beautiful,
ephemeral moment when we are one,
I am asleep in your arms.

* * *

My meter is wretched, but I think the overall package gets the message across. As the Kinks say: "If you feel a bit under the weather/ if you feel a little bit peeved/ take granny's stand-by potion/ for any old cough or wheeze". Better advice has never been given for the late night nic-fitter. I recommend it.

(Editor's note [3/4/04 3:10 AM]: The last lines could also be,

"For that beautiful,
ephemeral moment when I consume you,
you , too, consume me."

Pick your poison.)

Hey Oscar. You suck.

Hey Oscar. You suck.

I think my title is pretty indicative of how I felt about this year's Academy Awards. I think my favorite film of the year--City of God--got screwed almost everytime by that goddamn Lord of the Rings. Rings also won best song over Triplets of Belleville and A Mighty Wind. Am I wrong, or did that song sound exactly like the two Cold Mountain songs? I wish that in just one category--one category--I was surprised. And while I don't discredit Sean Penn for getting his award, poor Bill Murray. What'd everyone else think?
