The fruits of my ill-advised comic shopping spree

The fruits of my ill-advised comic shopping spree

I got a lot of comics today. I'll leave it to the interested reader to tally up what this haul must have cost me. I'll tell you that it was worth every penny and more.

THE HAUL (In no particular order...)

  • The Originals
  • The Walking Dead Vol. 3: Safety Behind Bars
  • Promethea (Book 4)
  • Seven Soldiers of Victory Volume 1
  • Ocean
  • Conan: The God In The Bowl And Other Stories

  • I'm currently reading and enjoying Ocean, and I am very, very pleased with my haul in its entirety.

    Watching:
  • Samurai Champloo - Volume 2

    Katy--

I am indeed on Netflix. Add me to your Friends list at my gronix@excite.com address. (Same goes for any other Netflixers who read this comment.) I'll set you up straight with the good and the bad.

    Nick--

I've heard only vague things about the Conan stuff. People talking in hushed but reverent voices. Gatherings in alleys where geeks stand passing around tattered copies of Frost Giant's Daughter and breathing heavily. Nearly every comic reader I know has contacted me and asked if I've read it. I'm excited to read both volumes and join the secret society.

Promethea volume 4 - man, I think that might be my favorite. So goddamn beautiful.

And what can I say about Conan that hasn't already been said?

    All Hail King Busiek!

So the thing about Promethea is that it pretty much seems like a textbook for magic in comic form. It's pretty great, especially considering my curiousity in the occult has grown in the past year.

Alan Moore always gives me the mad hookups.

By the way, have you read thru Promethea 5?

    Yeah...

While beautiful, it came off kinda hurried. I liked Tom Strong's part, but in the end, it seemed like Moore got a signal from above or something.

I am of a small minority that found the whole of ABC to be... well rather lacking. With the exception of TOP TEN.

And I worked in a Comic store for a time and got caught up on most of that stuff for the most part.
