"The Unnatural Natural"

"The Unnatural Natural"

Perhaps this LA Times article will give you guys some insight into my adoration of baseball, my curiousity of mythologies and my frequent claim of being from the Most Haunted City in America, all due to being born in Alton, IL.

Thanks to my dad for bringing the article to my attention. Here's his addition to the story that he sent to me--along with the link to "The Unnatural Natural"--in an email:

"D,

I knew this guy when we were kids. His family and ours went to the same church. In his 20's, he & some buddies went out of town where he got a parking ticket. His buddies told him to forget about it, the cops would never come after him. He looked over his shoulder in fear for several yrs. Then the knock on his door came. It was the cops. He had the breakdown as a result. Afterwards, I'd see him walking the streets as if in a daze. It's him, The Natural."

Man, I love a good legend.

Watching:
  • Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story
  • "Nip/Tuck - The Complete First Season"
(My parents watched one episode of "Nip/Tuck" and declared it both gruesome (the surgeries) and pornographic (the sex scenes). Having never seen an episode at the time, I shrugged and said something like, "That sounds about right." I've worked as a PA on the show a few times this season and finally decided to watch the show. Rather, Jessie made the decision for me, having picked up the entire first season for $18.88 at Target the other day. My parents didn't mention that--beyond being gruesome and pornographic--the series is also fantastic. I'm currently feeding my new addiction by watching the first season and contemplating stuffing it full by buying the second myself.)
