As if there was any doubt.

As if there was any doubt.

I'd like to point out that the Cardinals are the number one team in the MLB. (Numbah wan kee-lah! Any Branded to Kill fans out there? No? Just me and Nick? That's okay.) I'm just saying the Cards rule.

Watching:
  • March of the Penguins (Really nothing special. Really.)
  • Visitor Q
  • Gozu
  • "Neverwhere" (Has anyone seen this BBC mini-series? It's actually quite awful. I bought the bootleg several years ago at some hole-in-the-wall comic convention on one early Sunday afternoon, and I recently rediscovered them amidst the things under my bed. It's primarily a sleep aid. Imagine a second-rate novel turned into a third-rate [even fourth-rate] BBC production. It's really, really bad... Recommended only to masochists and insomniacs, even with the great-looking titles designed by Dave McKean.)
  • Incident at Loch Ness
  • Strings

    Listening to:
  • The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
  • H.P. Lovecraft’s The Call of Cthulhu
  • The Dancing Wu Li Masters

    Reading:
  • American Gods (Finished.)
  • The Island of the Day Before

ok... first off, not only do i know of "neverwhere" but i OWN it... sad yes, the BBC show is pretty bad, but i found it at a best buy one day about a week after i had finished reading the novel, and the NOVEL is amazing! if you want to experience some GOOD neverwhere, then read the book... also, it's by neil gaiman, wheich you might appriciate being a comic fan and all... also, i dunno if you knew or not, but i LOVED strings... i saw it in the cinema when it first came out in england... if you are watching it, does that mean that it is now out in the states???? if so i'm buying it...

oh, one last thing... i'm very jealous you wnt down a steep hill in a radio flyer! LUH-KEYYYY! :)

Neverwhere: As I recall, I'd just finished reading the book myself or was in the midst of it when I ran across the bootleg of the BBC mini. This was several years before the DVD came out, and so it was a novelty at the time but no longer really stands up.

Neverwhere actually disappointed me quite a bit after having read Sandman, but Gaiman's other novels (American Gods and especially Stardust) are much better reads.

Strings: Strings impressed me mostly with its mise en scene rather than the story, but it was a fun watch regardless.

I'm not sure about Netflix's description of the movie. Not that another country can't comment on American policy regarding the "War on Terror", but--while there are elements of that in the film--I think it cheapens it to a reactionary stance when the themes clearly go well beyond simply commenting upon United States' politics.
