Leaky brain

Leaky brain

After looking at today's call sheet, I found myself silently exclaiming, "Hell, yeah! I get to sleep in until 5:15!" That's AM, people. And that's fucking sick. It'll have been a six day week after tomorrow, and I've had to get up at 4AM the past three days. Luckily Mondays & Tuesdays are my weekend days.

I am so tired.

It's me, a hamburger, some red wine and my comic books until I pass out. At least I still know how to have a good time. Christ, I'm surprised I'm still literate with work making my brain occasionally leak out my ears.

Alright. My plans have changed. I'm just eating and passing out. Peace.

[UPDATE: I forgot to mention that the short film I worked on--my very first job when I got to LA--about honor killings in Turkey was accepted into the Sundance Film Festival the other day. Neat-o, eh?

Also, I lied about going straight to sleep.]

I feel your pain. I have to get up at 4 AM so I can be at work at 4:30 AM at least twice a week. It's a vile and terrible time to be conscious.

And hey, you know what's cool? A superhero lesbian. Honestly, I just finished the first issue of Top 10 and it occurred to me that I'd never read an openly homosexual superhero before. I didn't even think about it until I finally saw one.

I mean what, like the people who read comic books are homophobic? For chrissakes, selective ignorance may make sense in some backwards ass logic, but it really shouldn't.

E-rock--

I don't know how far you've gotten in Top 10, but you might be saddened to hear that it only lasted one "season". That, of course, assumes you liked it.

One of the cool things about Top 10--other than the great storytelling--is that each character is treated with equal weight and depth. Whether it's the size-shifting forensic scientist, the dog-in-robot's clothing, the lesbian detective, the what-the-fuck-ever. Each character rings true.

By the way, if you're reading Alan Moore, you should read the great stuff he did with Rob Liefeld's Supreme. The first issue he did is absolutely brilliant, in my humble opinion. If you like Supreme, you should move on to Tom Strong, which uses the identical structure to its stories except that it uses a character of Moore's own creation.

Also: you should post on Nick's and my comic review site once he sends you an invitation. I'm curious to hear more of what you have to say about the stuff you've been reading. Kate: this goes the same for you. I might have to bug him a little to send you the invite because he's immersed in finals at the moment, but I'll get you guys added to the list.

There was sort of a sequel to Top Ten. Its a OGN called 'Smax'. It follows Det. Smax and Toy Box to Smax homeworld. Which is apparently alot like midgard. If you havent read Top 10 books 1 & 2 I suggest you wait to read this one.

I havent read it but they may talk about what happens at the end of Top 10.

Oh I sent the invite to Kate btw.

Word to your mother.

I haven't read Smax yet, but I've been meaning to. Just as I've been meaning to read Promethea, Terra Obscura, and Tomorrow Stories. I'm trying to make my way through the entire Alan Moore ABC collection, but I'm making some small detours.

For example, I plan to make Book I of Cerebus my first review.

I hear that Promethea turns into a lesson/overview thru the mystic magical arts... or something.
